West-Zeeuws-Vlaanderen

Beaches

With many exciting surfing and sailing sports and countless cycling and walking opportunities, the West Zeelandic Flanders coast is a great option for active leisure, no matter the season. As a bonus, the sun shines more often here than in the rest of the Netherlands. What's more, the beaches in West Zeelandic Flanders have been among the most beautiful and cleanest in the Netherlands for years.

THE CLEANEST BEACHES AND MOST SUN HOURS
The Blue Flag flies all along the West Zeelandic Flanders coast. That means excellent swimming water and clean beaches. With the handy orientation posts with figures by Dick Bruna, mums and dads are never far away. In any case, there are helpers on standby, so you can enjoy a carefree day at the beach, which should be no problem with the many hours of sunshine that West Zeelandic Flanders is blessed with.

REAL SHARK TEETH
The biggest beach sensation is finding an ancient shark tooth. The best places to find fossil shark teeth are near the radar tower in Nieuwvliet and the Zwingeul near Cadzand. Look closely among the shell debris; you will need a little patience and a good set of eyes.

DOG LOVERS WELCOME
The beaches of West Zeelandic Flanders are very dog-friendly. Dogs must be kept on a leash from 1 May to 1 October from 10:00 to 18:00. There are rules in place to keep the beach accessible to everyone. That way, we don't get in each other's way, and everyone can enjoy the sea and the beach at the right time.

IN THE NUDE
Enjoy sunbathing in the nude at Groede-Breskens nude beach. A wonderful beach, just for you and other nude recreation enthusiasts. Enjoy!
